Lucy-the-Goldendoodle and Rosie-the-dog

About Lucy

This is about Lucy, our Goldendoodle, doodly-doo, crazy dog. When our beloved Rosie died in 2005 at the age of 16 1/2, I didn’t even want to think about getting another dog. I was certain that no dog could take her place.

But our house was too empty. It needed dog energy and so did I. Enter stage left, Lucy-the-Goldendoodle. We got energy alright and a whole lot more! I’ve had a lot of dogs and none of them were like Lucy. She is an alpha dog and lives up to that title in every way. It took 7 months to housebreak her.

I came home one day when she was a puppy and she’d destroyed 20 or so CD jewel cases by pulverizing them into bits and sinking her teeth into the CD’s. They weren’t anything that I didn’t have on my hard drive, but when I got down to the bottom of the pile of plastic shards I found 4 little tomato seeds. I’d bought some lovely heritage tomatoes the day before and left them on the counter. Rosie was not a tall dog. It never occurred to me that Lucy would stand on her hind paws and eat all of the tomatoes.

Ummm. Plastic covers and heritage tomatoes. Yes, I’ll have some salt, please.

She is a character and fills up our hearts.
