Okay, it’s only a number, but when the checkout girl at Khol’s offers you a senior discount without even asking, hello, you know you’ve “arrived!” Still, 15% isn’t bad and now I don’t have to worry about being carded when I ask for senior tickets at the movies. I started getting senior tickets at about 56 or 57. To the kids in the booth, we all look the same – old.
I remember my parents friends and they all blended into one gray mass. Sigh, who knew I would get here so fast. Inside I still feel like I’m a kid. I only know time is going by when I walk by a mirror and see my mother. Mom, what the hell are you doing in there!

This is more intense then when AARP sends you a membership card. It eclipses 55 and it is certainly more monumental than – OMG – 60!
When that little packet arrives from the government that cheerily announces – Welcome to Medicare – it is a moment that goes down on the ”I’m going to remember this one list…” At least I got to see Black Eyed Peas up close and personal!
